Challenges and Countermeasures of Digital Transformation in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in the process of digital transformation and to propose appropriate countermeasures.In terms of challenges, the first is the replacement of technology and equipment, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises need to meet the market demand for timely updating of technology and equipment. Secondly, financial and cost constraints are also an important factor, and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises usually face the problem of limited resources. In addition, organisational and cultural change is also a challenge, and companies need to adapt to new ways of working and cultural atmosphere. Finally, the lack of digital talent is also a constraint, and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises need to find experienced professionals. To cope with these challenges, this study proposes corresponding countermeasures. Firstly, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises should formulate a digital development strategy with clear objectives and steps. Secondly, they should strengthen their technological capabilities by developing internal technical teams and cooperating with external organisations. In addition, optimise resource allocation and focus resources on the most critical aspects of the digital transformation process. Finally, cultivate digital talents, the lack of which can be addressed through training and recruitment. In conclusion, by adopting these countermeasures, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises can better cope with the challenges in the process of digital transformation and achieve sustainable development.
